As I've mentioned, we're re-watching Buffy with Lauren, 1-2 episodes a night. Last night was The Wish/Amends.

A thought struck me; who owns the Bronze? We never see them, never have anyone complaining that people are smashing it up in vampire fights, or having clandestine meetings there late at night (or surprise birthday parties).

Who owns it? I wanna know!

I have often thought this same thing. Who? I fear that we are doomed to disappointment.

*hugs*

Wolfram & Hart? You know they'd want to keep a finger on the pulse of the each of the Hellmouths.

The mayor built the town for demons to feed on, and he presumably left a bunch of institutions and rules in place to keep it going. So if there's a business in town that, by all rights, should have closed down years ago due to all the death and mayhem and still remains open, my guess is it's somehow being run by city officials who have no idea why it's their job but have learned not to ask questions.

Hi there! Hope it's okay to drop in here with a comment—I saw a link to your post at the Sunnydale Herald, and I happen by weird coincidence to have insight into this question!

Last week I read an official Buffy tie-in novel, Halloween Rain by Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder.

(Actually to be completely accurate, what I read was not the original tie-in novel, but a French translation. And actually it wasn't the original French translation, but rather an edition which had been adapted for the youth market, aimed at kids ten and up. And the reason I was reading this book was to practice my French, which is not fluent. So we're a few levels of remove from the source material here, you might say...)

Anyway, the story's set during Season One, and is clearly not part of canon, since the whole plot revolves around Halloween being a day when important mystical stuff happens. BUT! Buffy, Xander and Willow go to the Bronze on Halloween night, and they interact with the owner! The owner is a woman in her 30s, named Claire Bellamy. Their interaction is brief, and there's no indication that Claire Bellamy knows anything about the fact that her nightclub is full of vampires.

The book was actually quite enjoyable, with its nostalgia-inducing season 1 characterizations!
