Is is JARVIS, J.A.R.V.I.S. or Jarvis when referring to the AI version of the movies, not the butler of the comics? I've googled and can't get anything definitive. Has the fandom gone with one in particular?
I don't think I've ever seen it punctuated. But I've seen up and downcase. Part of the "issue" is a great majority of fandom is using comics fandom to fill in gaps, so...
I'm with James--to me Jarvis was the Starks' original butler (and still around in some comics 'verses). For the AI, I prefer JARVIS (and also SHIELD) because the periods get unwieldy and style is trending towards dropping periods for acronyms. (Of course Brits are trending towards initial cap only or even all lower case for acronyms, which I think can hurt comprehension!) I think comics that were printed in all cap fonts used periods for clarity. ( I'm in IT communications, which I use without periods unless I'm writing in all caps, in which case I make sure it's I.T. so as not to appear to be "it"!)
