You want to know what lurking evil is? It's my basement. It's full of junk. Full of stuff we're saving, just in case, full of plastic pots with soil in, kindling for the fire we never light, thousands of books (exempt from all of this) and toys. When Lauren began to crawl, the 'dangerous' toys got banished there. As she got new loot, older stuff migrated there.

I went down there for the first time in ages and nearly fainted. 1600 square feet of trash littered concrete.

Today I cracked and abandoned Spike and Xander in an alley (if they won't get on with it and just fucking fuck I'm not hanging around waiting for them, m'kay?) and went down there armed with bin bags. I started out with two; one for real trash, one to end up at the charity store. At some point I realised I'd been putting things in the wrong bags...

I snapped and went beserk. I threw pretty much everything. Every happy meal toy, every educational game she's never played with, every jigsaw puzzle Lauren only chews to bits, everything. Some of it was good stuff someone else could have used but I didn't care.

Four bin bags full and one of them is plaintively playing a tune because something is leaning on that fucking Minnie Mouse toy.

I feel...lighter. Still going to hell of course.
As ever, a blocked me turns to smut in desperation. Either skip to the fic or bear with me as I give credit where it's due for this one.

Earlier, I was giving the talented [livejournal.com profile] ros_fod feedback on the wonderful fic she wrote for me in the BoD challenge. I mentioned how I loved smut set in libraries because you had to stay quiet no matter what was being done to you. Mix in the Giles/Oz/Xander in the library fics that [livejournal.com profile] stakebait did recently, and my recently always present desire to write about Giles, and you get this fic. I'm not sure it's my Oz; I think he owes a lot to the two authors I just mentioned and I'm not familiar enough with him to be too innovative, but it's my Giles, or one of them.

Enough babbling.
