Got a lovely Giles icon because I don't have any which is just so wrong. It's by Jess, from here; http://ficbitch.com/pretty
Thanks you ::hugs::
They'll never film one of my favourite books now. It's by George MacDonald Fraser (author of the Flashman books) and it's called 'The Pyrates'. Anyone read it? I mentioned it on here some time ago, can't remember why or where but I don't mind pimping it again.

I'd suspect someone who wrote POTC knew this book. It has the same feel to it in so many ways. Pyrates is set (loosely) in the seventeenth century. Which doesn't stop the anti heroine, Sheba, wearing long Gucci boots and Arpege. Tortuga appears and a score of characters, including Happy Dan Pew who,

'minced and bowed and fluttered his fingers at Vanity'...sound familiar? ::grin::

The first sentence of the book is a page long and sets the scene so beautifully that you know you're in for a treat, the plot brings in everything under the sun and has two men to lust after (just like...) and it's full of so much loving humour and such respect for the genre that it can get away with poking as much fun as it likes.

I've read it many times and love it to bits. It's still available;

show most people like smut or long stories and are happy for me to dilly dally in finishing Preying.

Just to show you that I listen, I finished chapter ten (with smut) and sent it to my angelic beta Green and started chapter eleven; hopefully the last, or penultimate one if it runs over...

No plot bunnies to distract me, so I'll keep on with it for now.

Thanks for answering, everyone! It was interesting.
