I posted some of my sunday100 drabbles over at alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer.creative, the place I first discovered fanfic and where I still post all my fics. Very nice people there, though the group is pretty small. They were interested in the idea, and we decided to have a go ourselves, informally. The topic this first week was 'flowers'. Here's mine.

Lie Still

Guilt-sped steps stumble closer to their goal. She knows there hasn’t been a day where the memory of loss hasn’t taken away her breath in a sudden, piercingly sharp stab of pain, there hasn’t been a night without a whispered ‘goodnight’ to ears closed eternally. Yet still the guilt. No flowers, no tending, no visits to the grave.
She arrives to find wild flowers quilting freshly weeded earth, dim, pale, pretty...and she remembers Spike’s hands the night before, spread against her skin, grubby fingernails making her lip curl disdainfully as she clawed at him with her own.

Shame joins guilt.
Theme is weather. This is set during Harsh Light of Day

Blinded by The Light

He wished that it were night as he stepped outside, the ring clinging coldly to his finger. He trusted it, he did, but daylight had been an enemy for too long for him to embrace it now. He forced himself to step into the honey-golden air in one swift step, momentum carrying him forward as instincts held him back.

Then he stopped, not out of fear, but wonder. Sunlight and colours, vibrant and raw, fucking his eyes into ecstasy with a brutal directness he had to admire.

He set out to find the Slayer...but he took the long way around.

last night with SMG starring. It's a really old one, 1999, called 'Simply Irresitible'. Apart from Scooby Doo, I haven't seen her in a movie so I was curious. It was weird seeing her with dark, reddish hair and a respectable cleavage and the film was middling good at best but it was fun. She hasn't quite got the clout to star but I've seen much worse (DB in Valentine...oh God, kill me now, don't make me watch that again).

What made me giggle were two Buffyish moments; they kiss and rise off the dance floor; hello? Willow/Tara...which came first? has to be the movie, that wasn't until S4. And much is made of vanilla scented custard and the smell being associated with her; is this where it started? An in joke?
