In which I moan about code and expose my utter geekiness.

You remember sangpassionne and I ::cough::justherreally::cough:: redesigned my page at Christmas? And then we added the pairings page? Stage three; going through the stories, all 160+ of the sometimes multi chaptered little darlings.

Why? Because my web space and bandwidth transfer is limited. And because, in a fit of curiosity, after I'd uploaded 'If Truth Be Told' yesterday, I clicked on 'view Source'. Sheesh and eek and what the bloody hell is this crap? Composer was telling it what font to use on every single paragraph!

So I cobbled together some code that I thought I could use at the start/end of each story ::pauses to marvel at my incredible genius::, after I'd stripped all composer's babblings away and sent it to sangpassionne who tactfully made lots of some improvements and off I went.

Did I mention that when you change the code, click on 'normal', notice that, oh, yes, another line break would look better and go back to source, composer has reverted to what it was before you fixed it? Grr.

Thankfully I was only working on a drabble. Now I know to copy it before going to see how it looks. Again, sheesh.

So; will it be worth it? I compared file sizes. Yes, I was that insane. A drabble went from 2.32 to 1.35 KB. Tiddy perhaps, but I only have 10MB. 'If Truth Be Told' went from 78.4 to 44.1 KB.

I'm so doing this. It'll take ages, but I can nibble away at it.

And I'm tracking my Amazon order. Angel S3, Red Dwarf 3 and 4 and a book, don't know how that got in there, heh, might well be here today as Amazon shipped them two days ago. Cool! Vindaloo Curry Monster and Wes breaking my heart in 'Billy'; too much to cope with.

Luckily I have my jumbo bag of Christmas Skittles to calm me down; reduced because they're only red and green but I loathe the purple so I'm so not minding that.

ETA; 11.00 a.m package arrived! Ten minutes of attacking shrink wrap and they're mine, all mine ::runs away::

Also trying to cope with extended footage of AD talking American. Little flashes of Wes keep appearing and it's so confusing...talk in your English accent, darn it; much prettier ::runs away fast::

Web page going well; have saved over 400KB so far.

Got an idea for ABoD; thank God.

Got Rescue Romance fic back from adorable beta glassslipper so I'm feeling less pressured now I'm down to one deadline fic.

While I'm doing this; am I the only person who thinks the way you access the commentary on the Firefly DVD is totally un user friendly? Took me ages to find it and many clicks to get it. Silly. Almost as silly as it being quicker to look up the specials/commentaries for the Buffy/Angel DVDs on Amazon, as it takes forever to find them on the discs; tell us in the fricking booklet! It's not an intelligence test!

And did I mention, while I rant, that I consider Easter Eggs to be an infringement of my consumer rights? I paid good money for that shiny circle and you will tell me everything I got for my pennies, or I will hunt you down. Hiding them isn't clever, isn't funny and...I should stop ranting now. It's making my throat worse.
