Happy Birthdays!

Happy Birthday to two lovely people, justhuman, and uberaeryn! I hope today is very happy for you both and brings a spot of brightness to the post-festivities gloom. ::hugs and cuddles::

Our day didn't start well as it was David's first day back at work and the alarm didn't go off and neither of us had slept well so we weren't very alert. Poor baby had to leap out of bed, dress, and fling himself into the car, all in the space of about 8 minutes.

It's an icky day, grey and misty.

I have about a dozen LJ posts I planned to write which I know I'll never get around to doing.

Oh, well ::moves on::

Masses of tidying to do, post-vistors (I start a visit with a pristine house and then don't do much to it after that because I'm busy having fun with whoever's staying; when people stay for three weeks this stops being a viable plan).

I tried uploading the pictures of the snow in the Algonquin and can't figure out how to make them small enough to be usable; they sprawled out so you had to scroll sideways to see them. Pity, as they're spectacular and we had some adorable ones of Macallan, too.

One of my Christmas presents from David was a cute, attach to your keychain, I GB flash drive. His dad had one and used it to store photos on to transfer to us and vice versa. I love it but I can't figure out what to put on it.

And we missed out on the 250 GB external hard drive for $129 in the Future Shop sale :;whimpers:; I was drooling at the thought of it but we hesitated, decided to get it later, and they were all gone. Damn.

I'm consoling myself with the thought that they'll get bigger (and smaller) and cheaper and we still have 30 GB free so there's no need to panic.

I'm in the weird state of having no fic on the go, just my novel. I want to work on it; did some yesterday, but it's daunting because I've plotted it out and there's so much to do. God, I'm idle! I want it to be there, fast and easy, like a drabble, and it won't be. Especially if I keep messing around doing a few paragraphs a day. It's at about 20K now, that's all. I think now I've got used to the idea that it's going to be less vanilla than I'd planned it'll be easier; I kept pulling back from the kink and it slowed everything down. And for the first time, I want to skip ahead and write a particular scene, but if I do and I can't use it in the end, it'll drive me mad.

And now it's 11.00 and I've done nothing :;prises fingers off keyboard::

Just read a bit on Gateworld that recent S8 box sets have the longer Threads on them and checked mine.

One hour, five.

Scenes I don't remember.

Yep. I've written off for a replacement and I didn't need one. Doh!

Plus side, I only clipped the corner of the insert instead of sending off the whole thing so I'm just out a stamp but I feel an idiot. If I do get the new one, it's up for grabs if anyone needs it but when I just checked they still hadn't got my letter so it won't be soon.

I also got converted to Bones over the holidays after having seen the first episode and being underwhelmed. Now it's moved to Wednesday I'll be able to watch it (on Monday it clashed with volunteering). So is the move a good thing or a Worrying Sign?

And I just have to ask; what Hogwarts house would you sort me into? I've seen that meme so often and always wondered :;g::
