Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most.

I just checked and I've written 558 fics to date, covering ten fandoms (159 are drabbles). Choosing five I love best is never going to be an absolute, unchanging choice, although the first two will always be on the list, I think.

Act of Nature Giles/Xander NC17 Like [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl I have to pick this one. For itself, because it was the first time we wrote together, the first time I co-wrote with anyone, come to that, and because it lead to us writing Laying a Ghost and getting it published. Because I loved the story, the setting, the pairing (that fight Giles and Xander had in the basement. Oh God. So hot) and working with WG. Because we created John McIntyre and I don't think I've ever had such a universally positive reaction to an OC in a fic I was involved in. Everyone loved John.

Secretary Wesley/Faith NC17 Another co-written one. I'm sensing a theme. Did I love Secretary? Yes. It may have started out as a retelling of the movie using Wesley and Faith but eight months of daily posting and 800,000 words later, we were well past that. That was the most consistent, sustained period of writing I've ever done. Behind the scenes we were talking up a storm, the four of us collaborating, crying, sometimes, to be honest, disagreeing. But somehow, we got to the end and I found that I could submerge my own voice into a group one. Secretary had its own language, its own style; it wasn't any one of us; it was all of us.

A Little Learning is a Dangerous Thing Dalton BtVS This was, what, my second ever fanfic? Hugely ambitious 13,000 word fic with an unforgivably sentimental ending and, as Dalton the bookloving vampire had about three lines and no history on the show, writing his lifestory was pretty much an original fic. Never let it be said I wasn't willing to take a risk. I haven't read this fic for years; probably would cringe in horror if I did, but... it's my baby. I was still discovering that I could write and it was a glorious rush of stunned pleasure.

Still is.

The Eclipsed Series Paul/Jack NC17 This was a tricky one. Paul/Jack isn't written much but the ones I'd read had been brilliant and I was intimidated but determined. My Paul was very much an extrapolation, an interpretation, rather than a reflection of him in canon; how else; we don't see much of him, but he felt very real. Not done with this 'verse yet.

Spoken in the Silence Jack O'Neill/Jim Ellison I don't know why. It was written when I barely knew Jim and I let Jack introduce him to me and it just felt right. I like this one.
