This day, ten years ago, the Davitt family were in a big plane, flying over the sea, about to start a new life in Canada.
And we're still here, so I guess we managed it.
In some ways, we still, David and I, feel new. Visitors. And then when we go back to England, we feel as if we don't -- quite -- belong there, either. It's an odd feeling. The girls don't feel that way; Lauren's a Canadian citizen, after all, and Eleanor was two months shy of two when we arrived; she can't remember the UK.
But we're so very happy here and thank you Canada for being welcoming, friendly and kind to three immigrants.
