Birthday, vid, stuff

Off to the mall in a bit for some last minute shopping for Pat who flies back on Monday. We're hoping to get to see Harry Potter on Sunday (without Lauren, who is too young and a total wriggle bottom who'd never last out a film that long). It seems weird avoiding spoilers for it when I've read it but I'm playing it safe.

And I'm soooooo tired. Had a sleepless night and then got up early to take David into work; we're meeting up at a friend's house to swim and eat later and the friend works with David so it makes sense for him to take David home in his car.

The children are looking forward to the pool; unless we get another thunderstorm like the one which rained off Eleanor's soccer last night.

And, my gosh, that all sounds very trivial. See; tired; babbling!

Sentinel recs

First a long fic I had the pleasure of reading first betaing arrow00 Somewhere To Be Jim/Blair NC17.

Beautifully written AU that's really not so far off canon as it could have been if the show had taken it another way. The relationship between Jim and Blair develops slowly, naturally and Jim's problems with the senses are explored with a realism that really works. There's a solid plot, some great secondary characters and really, shoo, go, read, because so very good.

And zelempa has been doing some lovingly snarky and very funny recaps of The Sentinel episodes (I love episode recaps with a passion) and they're on her LJ and here.

Just found out (thank you ghausia) that I'm credited as writing the first Dean/Sam fic in the Supernatural Wiki.

I knew I was one of the first overall (pretty sure your gen drabble was posted a few hours before I posted my ficlet mahaliem but I didn't know Reunion was the first slash one. Don't think I've ever been first at anything before.

I can still remember how odd it felt to write it a few hours after the pilot aired when we knew absolutely nothing about what was going on. It wasn't just new to me; it was new, full stop; no episode guides, little fandom resources, brand new and uncharted.

Exhilarating and terrifying and fun... is it September yet?
