Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] luna_61! Hope the sun shines down brightly and the cake is delicious ::hugs you::

We went to see Harry Potter yesterday; enjoyed it quite a bit and I thought they did a good job of compressing the book. It was only on the way home that we started to remember bits they'd missed out and realised how much had gone.

Which says something, I'm not sure what.

What had me seething and growling and muttering though, was one of the trailers. Not the one for The Golden Compass which looked pretty cool (am I the only person on LJ who hasn't read the Pullman books? They're in my library as I had them for Christmas and David's read them, I just... haven't) but one that was halfway through when it dawned on me that I was watching not just any generic-looking fantasy but the trailer for The Dark is Rising.

A book, a series, I've read multiple times since childhood and know practically off by heart and I didn't recognise it.

I know exactly what that says, thank you, and I'm not bloody well going to see it.

I ranted about the disservice they'd done to it when the first spoilers (how apt) came out so I won't do it again, but my God, way to gut the book and miscast every character I saw.

I'm going to stare at my icon and calm down. Mmm. Jim does sweaty good...

Okay, this is going to sound weird.... but recently I can't right click on things and have a menu pop up beside them (open/save/delete, that sort of thing). The mouse isn't sticking or anything; it clicks, but nada. This is stopping me easily downloading something as the address of the link is fudged, as people usually do, and I can't open it in a new window and change to 'http' manually. I can copy out the link by hand so I'm not totally stuck, but that's a pain.

It might be the mouse in which case, easy fix, but I'm wondering if it's a Firefox bug I haven't come across?

ETA Looks like the mouse; thanks!

I was capping for icons and came across this moment in 3.02.

Words failed me when it came to dreaming up a caption... especially when it was followed with this:

Those two :;shakes head fondly:;
