I woke up to snow fluttering down, no school as it's one of the days they're doing parent/teacher interviews, and Lauren coughing. She's going to the doctor this afternoon so hopefully he'll give her something that works, poor sweetie. I'm looking after one of her friends for the day so instead of her moping around looking bored and whining, there is just the faint distant squeak of happy voices from the basement as she plays. And mothers wonder why I never mind their kids coming over :-)

I just saw this manip on [livejournal.com profile] magnavox_23's LJ and melted my brain. So hot... it's Daniel/Vala but my first thought was Wesley and Faith from Secretary which had me all nostalgic.

[livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl and I are in the throes of editing the third John/Nick novel, now called 'Waking the Dead'. It was lovely writing those two again and so much fun to be tagging; unbelievably fast way of working.

I have most of my Christmas presents bought AND wrapped; very luckily intercepted a confirmation email last night just before David sat down at the computer that spelled out one of his Christmas presents in the header. Spoilery emails!! Tell Santa!

I signed up for the fic exchange at [livejournal.com profile] ts_secret_santa and I'm having fun writing for the prompt days there, too, but I almost forgot that I was going to get a fic written for me! Yes, I know. I'm a dork.

It just got posted and you can read it here:

The Dark Side of the Moon J/B NC17.

I asked for something from Jim's past as a soldier to come up in the present and this is a great exploration of that and very plausible, too. There's some yummy smut, a nicely snarky Jim and Blair, an OC I really took to, and whoever wrote it for me, thank you so much! :;hugs::

I'm a total woolly lamb by the look of it, as, spurred by a few other people doing it today, I too did a desultory trim of my f-list, mostly people who, according to the nudge list, haven't been posting for ages (where did you go?!).

If I took you off and you are still around and wish I hadn't, or if I clicked the wrong button and defriended someone I talk to on a daily basis and adore (you know who you are), as at points my eyes went fuzzy, feel free to point this out in the comments, which are screened.

Absolutely no ulterior motives or miffiness or anything exciting like that; just tidying up the computer. Next up is my sent messages folder, which is full to bursting.

I've been shopping online today; taken me a few years to embrace the idea but now... whoo, boy, yes. After several presents posted to the UK in November showing up in February, I'm a convert.

I use Amazon a lot (as some of you will discover shortly ::g::). I wish the Canadian Amazon had as much range as the US and UK versions but I'm really chuffed this year as, purely serendipitously, while I was searching Amazon UK for a present for my mum I saw a reference to something for David, a real blast from the past (I'm being cryptic in case he sees this). I searched the entire net and this item was only mentioned in this one place, anywhere, and I stumbled over it purely by accident.

Wow.

I love the net. I love interactive e-cards, I love being able to get out of print books I'd never have been able to collect or track down a decade ago, I love that my friends are from all ages and all across the globe now, and all the breadth of lives and cultures that means I get to experience. I love the way the net's this huge Enquire Within for a zillion questions I have.

And I love that I can shop, click, click, done ::beams::
