When A equals B and C but C does not equal A

I started a vid before Christmas, and many insertions of iPods and flashdrives into the computer later, the external hard drives have swapped names (again) and the vid is now useless as none of the clips are available to it, even when I switch both external hard drives on.

It wants both the Sentinel files AND the F drive in the same place and now they're not.

::sobs::

Is there any way to rename them again in a less chancy way than shoving things in and hoping for the best?
