I had about three hours sleep so I can barely remember how to type and look vaguely zombiefied; not that my eyes are focusing that well, so small mercies. It's that bloody hour; we went to bed early, couldn't get to sleep, then I wrote the end of my novel in my head so I kept going over it so I wouldn't forget bits, then I remembered I'd forgotten to pay a bill, then my leg went numb as it sometimes does...
Enough. I'm awake now and it's sunny and bright.
David went out to pump up the Camaro's tires yesterday at the garage at the end of the road (two of them have slow leaks). When he wasn't back in half an hour, I decided to use The New Cell Phones, more in a spirit of amusement than concern as I assumed he'd had to use another garage or stopped off to buy Tim's as it's Roll Up The Rim time. I retrieved my phone from my handbag in the car to see I'd had three missed calls.
D had broken down, tried to call me, tried the house phone (E on the phone to one of her best friends for 40 mins; they watch TV shows together, phones to their ears). So, yes, in a way the cell phones worked, but clearly I need to be more aware of where mine is...
I jump started him and my jump leads began to smoke ominously so we used David's and they worked. So that meant a trip to Canadian Tire for new jump leads. Exciting! The medium priced ones had all gone and I now have official Nascar ones or something. Kewl.
Vrumm Vrum.
Off to the mall with mum and then I'll see how much of the book I can remember... Oh! I forgot. The computer died temporarily (like Buffy) last night. D was playing Civ and I plugged in a lead to recharge his iPod. Computer shut down. It does that sometimes if you plug something in so I apologized for him losing his game and we turned it back on.
It would not reboot. It started and then stopped about four times, monitor totally blank, only one light on the tower, and then I made D unplug it all at the back.
At some point, I recalled that my novel wasn't really backed up, well, not the last 7,000 words or so anyway.
EEEEE! ::panics::
We got the computer back amid much rejoicing and my first task was to copy the novel to one of the external HDs right away.
No wonder I couldn't sleep! A very stressful day. Yes.
