We were talking about homphobia in soccer recently, so I thought people would be interested in this. Gareth Thomas is the first British rugby player to come out (he announced it around Christmas) and there's an interview with him in the Guardian:
InterviewHe seems to have had a lot of support, always, from the teams he's been with, though not all the fans are as reasonable. It's very unlikely he's the only gay man playing rugby (and I doubt all soccer players are straight either...) but it must've taken a lot of guts to come out even late in his career.
