David runs a fantasy football team at work with cash prizes and he entered me into this year. I chose my team, and my name, then lost interest. Occasionally, he'd hint that keeping a player in who'd torn a tendon and was out for the season wasn't perhaps the best idea, but aside from a few transfers, I left them as they were.

With this result, and I quote from David's official report.

(I do win some money but in a very theoretical sense...it's all about the glory.)

In the Europa League Final we had Freddie pitting his wits via telepathic link from the Phillipines against Jane’s Stokie influenced team selections.

Both slipped up in the run in to the final by forgetting to transfer out injured players the previous week – Although to be fair, Freddie had run out of his transfer allocation for April, so there was nothing much to be done there. No excuse for Jane however!

So how did the chips fall?

[snip details]

However, the extra 3 points was not enough, and Jane is the Europa League Cup Winner for the 2010-2011 season!

In her first season of CFFL management, a combination of letting the team mature (otherwise known as ignoring it) and selecting players based on moral and ethical standards (I’m not picking Lampard because he scored against Stoke in extra time to take the points away from us...) has proved successful.

Jane is also our first ever female prize winning manager – History in the making indeed.

Well done Jane! Now let’s hope to see the Mighty Potters replicate your feat* on Saturday.

(* As opposed to replicating your feet, which let’s face it, would just be silly and pretty pointless in an FA Cup Final now wouldn’t it?)

Cheers, Dave
