Happy New Year to all and many thanks to those who sent cards; much appreciated and treasured.
We've just returned from a brief trip to Toronto with David's parents due to fly home tomorrow. We left yesterday and spent some time hiking in the Stoney Creek area. Gorgeous day, bright blue skies, dazzling sun and snow, though bitterly cold. we went to the Devil's Punchbowl Falls (spectacular) and then walked through the Beamer Falls woods to some stunning lookout points over Lake Ontario, though the falls there are not worth bothering with.
After that we headed into the city and checked in at a snazzy hotel we'd gotten three rooms in for next to nothing on Hotwire. One King West used to be a bank and there's this HUGE vault door downstairs and marble everywhere. Fascinating bits of history stories on the walls which made waiting for elevators fun. We were on the 20th floor and again, just gorgeous views. After eating in a deserted restaurant (Fisherman's Wharf) we hurried back through the freezing cold.
Drove back this morning, got some mail delivered and WHEE! We passed our citizenship test and get to take the Oath on Jan 16th!
We took the test on Dec 16th and it was HARD, OMG. I really thought we might not pass even after all our hours and hours of revising. We had different tests to each other and I was sure of 12 questions and needed another three correct to pass.
So in a few weeks' time, all the Davitts will be Canadian through and through.
