Went to get the stitches out today and saw my doctor who said it was just as well they didn't try draining it 9or hitting it, I guess ;-)) because when he opened it up he didn't find a ganglion but a mass of honeycombed blood vessels and he'd never seen anything like it. He sent it off for analysis and so he tapped the computer and we both saw the results; Masson's hemangioma, which is 'an unusual benign, non-neoplastic, vascular lesion'.
He said, hmm, haven't seen one of those since med school and told me the numbness was stretched nerves and should wear off and all looked fine. Still got a huge scar but it's flattened out now the stitches are gone and I guess it will fade in time.
