Took Alicia and Dave to the airport last night and sent them on their way home to England. Had an absolutely lovely two weeks with them and got quite choked up saying goodbye. Old friends are so easy to be with; Lisa and I gabbed away without stopping most of the time, catching up on stuff, and many a bottle of wine and beer was consumed in the process. I think our canoe ride was my favorite bit of the holiday but the best bits were the hours spent out on the patio in the sun or dusk chatting.

And we all learned to play Mario Kart with my David, Eleanor and Lauren helping (or mocking, lol) since they're experts.

Sunday of course, we abandoned them to go into Toronto straight after the world cup final for the Queen and Adam Lambert concert. We went with friends Steve and Shan and it was a magical night. The Air Canada Centre is huge and I sat perched up high sipping a cider and people watching. The concert was wonderful and Adam did justice to the songs and added something of himself too. Such a wicked grin he has, heh.

Concerts are so polite these days! Everyone sat until the encore songs and when we were yelling for the encore, we were louder than the band. I'm used to standing, deafened, being pushed around, everyone jumping up and down and screaming. The average age of the crowd was about fifty though so perhaps not a good idea ;-)

Brian May's solo was way too long and the mixing was dodgy at times but it was a really enjoyable time. I had to roll my eyes at the reviews; a recurrent them was 'Adam couldn't hack the operatic bit of Bohemian Rhapsody so they played a vid of the original recording instead'.

Uh, hello? Queen ALWAYS do it that way. Always have. Freddie used to slope off for...well, a pick me up shall we say. Why do they let people do reviews who don't know even the basics?

Teared up a few times.

Back to life as normal now...no visitors, no footie. Meep.
