So sorry to hear of the death of Terry Pratchett.

David and I discovered his books (with the PROPER covers) back when we were courting in 1988 and adored them. We bought them as they came out and it became a tradition for his mum to give us the new one each Christmas. I wasn't so keen on his later ones with Stephen Briggs and hated Snuff, but those are minor blips.

I met him in 1993 at a book signing in W H Smiths. Found an original The Carpet People in my local library only to have it be gone the next time I tried to read it (probably stolen; even then it was worth a lot).

And I scanned his story in W H Smith's free magazine, a copy of which I picked up not realizing that would one day be a collectable too.

If anyone wants to see it and the gorgeous illustration, it's here:

I hope Death and you have a nice chat at the edge of the desert, Lord Pterry.
