mahaliem's LJ that ff.net have taken down 'Rising From Our Dust' and 'Scenes We Didn't Get To See' and banned her for a week because they're script stories.
Now, it's their ball, and if they want to take it home, as they did when they banned NC17 fics a couple of years back, fair enough...I didn't agree it was necessary but I understood some of the reasons they gave while wishing they hadn't done it.
But script wasn't banned when those fics were posted, to the best of my knowledge, and I'm not quite sure why it is now (might have been in force for a while; don't go there much these days), nor why email fics are. They're still stories, and, in Mahaliem's case, very good ones, too. What's next; do drabbles get banned for being too short?
FF.net was where I started out. I've been appalled at some of the crap I've seen there, but it was somewhere for everyone, mockworthy as it is at times.
Now...eh, it's using up my gratitude.
And yes, I get it; rules are made, have to be followed...and oh boy, do I wish the proof reading/spell check one was enforced, but when that means two good fics get deleted for no reason other than the format, I have to ask where the logic went and how it helps anyone.
