I'm floundering with my f-list, so I've deleted a whack of communities. It occurred to me that, for the most part, if it's a fic I want to read, I've usually got the person friended and I'll see it on their LJ.
I've also deleted some LJs that seem dormant or that I just don't read/comment on. I hate doing this but tomorrow, with school starting, is the beginning of a new regime for me, one where I clean the house, take breaks from the computer to exercise, crack on seriously with the original fic... yeah, I know. It'll last a week, if that ;-) But I have to try. I'm getting fretted and stressed about how long I spend online doing nothing productive and how much is left undone because I've fallen into an apathetic coma of scrolling and browsing.
Spending an hour each morning catching up on my f-list when L is only at school for 3 hours is too long.
I rarely lock entries, so you're not likely to miss anything, and there is no one on my f-list I'm taking off for any ulterior reason so I hope no feathers are ruffled. 389 friends is a lot of lives to keep up with, that's all.
While I'm posting about this, please don't feel you have to keep me friended for old times sake if you were only here for the Buffy fic, which must apply to some people. It seems to have dried up of late. I'm still reading Buffy fic, still here in the fandom... just not feeling inspired to write any of my own. After 400 fics and three years, maybe that's not so surprising. Although there's a 60k Wes/Faith/Giles on the way soon, co-written with
lovesbitca, currently being beta'd although we'll wait for Bitca to get back from holiday to begin posting.
I used to curl up and weep silently when I got defriended (well, I meeped!) but nowadays, not so much, so feel free to grab the chance to boot me bodily off your list without thinking that I'm going to go into a decline.
::hugs::
