And obviously chock full of huge ginormous spoilers so I'm going to cut any second...

So much love. Except for some bits. But overall, so much love.

It's nice not being spoiled (I'm resisting temptation really well on both Stargate shows). It did vaguely cross my mind that it was Caldwell, but not enough for me to claim it as, in common with me reading detective stories, I suspect EVERYONE and am a Hastings, not a Poirot.

Starlight, I mean Twilight Barking! ::omgflailswithloveeventhoughthebooksaresomuchbetterandyestherearetwoofthemandlookitsays'woof'backtheretoocute:: And the LotR bit :;dies::

And even though they weren't there and I'm not sure where this fits in with S9, knowing Daniel was just around the corner somewhere gave me a warm happy glow.

And I love Dr Lee so very much ::hearts him::

Okay, I was yawning through the Teyla/dying lady bits but sticking with it because I figured thematically it had to fit in somewhere and I guess it did as it was all about choosing when to die, and choices in general. The elderly lady whose name I didn't catch wanted to die and that was fine; her choice. The people on Atlantis didn't want to. And choices, moral choices; Carson in standing back (which he damn well should have done as it was her wish to be allowed to die naturally and it's not up to Carson to overrule that) and Weir in unleashing Ronon.

That's the biggie of course. Kavanagh interests me; you want to like him, to feel sorry for him because, hey, we've all been the unpopular one, overlooked and belittled and it's not fun. But he's so resolutely smug and bitter that it's difficult. And, yes, there was a lot of circumstantial evidence piled up and yes, I could see him being sympathetic with the Trust and clock ticking, tick-tock... but it was so very easy in the end to nod assent, wasn't it, and although I didn't detect any real glee from Ronon because to him this was a job, not a fight, there was a gloss of... satisfaction almost on Weir and Sheppard's faces which was disturbing.

Kavanagh fainted. He was scared. He was terrified. Innocent as he was, he had all the weight of knowing he was in a city that was about to explode, and the hurt of knowing people he'd worked with though that of him so easily. Sowing what he'd reaped? A bit, yes. Even so.

He was up against death on two legs, looking hot, oh, yeah, you know he did, but ruthless and alone. They know that Ronon is capable of pretty much anything and no one went along to act as a check. They didn't want to see it happen, none of them. Sure, they were busy, but someone should have been there.

Caldwell's smile just before he was beamed away was chilling and the fight between him and Ronon was fine; that was just a fight.

Finally, Teyla's singing. Ignore the idiocy of a roomful of people dying to sing a song to a dead woman. I'm not all that sentimental about stuff like that and it struck me as being one hell of a dreadful thing to do in someone's name. They wouldn't ever have made it to the puddlejumpers. Pointless.

So ignore that but I was still looking everywhere but at the screen because I have a thing about people singing like that. Eowyn doing it in the extended edition had David and me exchanging embarrassed cringes on cue. Pippin wasn't so bad and that was what they were ripping off here, I think. It worked a bit when her voice was overlaid over what was going on, although the lyrics were too conveniently apposite, but the swelling background music seemingly there from a few people with instruments was too much.

Zelenka was funny but it was a little too much to believe that he'd have let them do that and a bit jarring with what was going on. Plus there seemed to be a real edge to the banter between him and McKay at the start and McKay and Cadman; what the hell was wrong with Rodney?

But despite my nitpicking, really did enjoy this; exciting and suspenseful and thought-provoking.

Neat.
