It's also the third birthday of my webpage. When I think back to how it was when it began (coloured backgrounds coded to the story! Links that pointed at the file on my hard drive! Jane with no clue about html and why Composer was screwing the code everytime I opened it to edit!) and how it is now, I cringe and wince at my ineptitude. OK, it's still basic as hell but I don't go for fancy; I go for readable and easy to navigate and there's a standing drabble in it for anyone who can suggest an improvement or who spots a broken link.
I remember when it went live. I used to greet David when he come home from work with, 'Seven people came! Seven hits today!' My mum emailed me to tell me she'd looked at it because she didn't want to give the counter a false hit...
I just checked. 118,406 hits. Less that one from mum way back when...
Anyway; thank you to anyone who visits. I still can't quite get over the feeling that the people who hit it get there by accident and leave immediately, backing away fast, but I'm very grateful to anyone who goes there - and who reads my stories at all.
