I got to see it at ten. Diving right behind the cut...
It was, in some ways, slow. It was in some ways frustrating; John whispering to Dean in particular.
But you know, I didn't really care. What I took away was this:
The trucker asking if he'd done this to them, in that shocked, broken voice.
Sam repeating Dean's words long before he knew Dean's spirit was there, underlining their link.
The way Dean, unheard, and Sam very much heard, both railed at their father.
The car. Oh, God, the car and Sam's utter determination to save it because it was Dean's and he wasn't giving up on it. Metaphor, sure, but not entirely.
And I didn't call the girl at all; nice twist.
And then that ending. Oh, God. The pained, poignant let's not fight to Sam (and how sad is it that I thought he was possessed at that point and that maybe he'd given up his body for the demon to use in exchange for Dean's life?)
Dean scared because his father never tells him stuff like this, starting to get it.
John crying.
I can't accept death as final; too many get out clauses, too many loopholes. I'm sure, totally unspoiled, that John will be in it again; flashbacks, whatever.
But for now he's gone and that hurts, dammit.
But it was good. It's really come back with that touch of confidence to it now, really hitting its stride.
