I'm amused by the 'I'm real, honest' meme going around (not so much at the cause ::rolls eyes:;) and the inventive responses.
It's not even enough to say you've met people because you could be those people, right? What you need is someone who's met you and the someone else you've met and can say you both exist and you're both you. Not you. Two yous.
But suppose they're you, too? ::wibbles::
I can point to someone who's met me who doesn't like me now (I don't think the two are related but I could be wrong...) but suppose the mutual dislike is A Cunning Plan and they're me, too? ::contemplates that and shudders::
I could (have) produce pictures, but they might be faked.
I could do a lot of things (hey, I have a vivid imagination!).
I could point to numerous LJ friends who knew me pre-LJ (since 1997 in fact) and can testify that my history is consistent. I can name three people who've been to my house, met my husband, children and cats, another I've met here in my town, four I met in Toronto, one I've spoken to on the phone. People have mailed me stuff and I've said thank you on receipt and I've mailed them stuff, too.
But somehow, correct me if I'm wrong, as long as I can carry on producing the fic and don't bug you all for lip balm, does it matter? Priorities, people... you write good fic and cut for spoilers and you can claim you're Nefertiti reincarnated and I don't care.
Go for it. Don't let reality restrain you; this is the net, right? Dream Park incarnate.
Just... don't lie about what matters. About being hurt, about dying, about needing help. Because this is one of the kindest places I've been and there just isn't any reason to lie if you really do need help because you'll get it. Always. Given ungrudgingly, given with two hands, given anonymously by people who aren't in that good shape themselves.
