Okay, that was interesting. Not quite as dark as I expected but back to what felt more like the show for me.
Loved the colliding fandoms; Rack/Kralik from Buffy, Narim/Simon from Stargate... and I'm not sure but that looked a lot like the prison from The Sentinel's Prisoner X - or it could have been the asylum Stargate uses a lot... seemed familiar, anyway.
Lots of snerk moments (Blue Steel? Oh, Dean. I love you. Swapping Sam for smokes? Heh. Heheh.) Faked out by who Deacon was; although why not bring them in as staff? And that Federal agent is so outclassed and good to see even a random PD can spot the inconsistencies in the case against them.
So, pretty good but honestly, Prisoner X was grittier...
