We rented Formula 51 over the weekend and the first words out of my mouth as it began were "Oxnard? It's set there? It's the town next to Sunnydale! Cool!"
We liked the film; some silly bits but were were all filled with misty eyed nostalgia; me for the accents and the pub scenes, David because part of it was filmed at Anfield and he is a diehard supporter of LFC (and he was born in Liverpool so he's not a fairweather supporter like Man U fans tend to be. Worst thing I know about Spike is his choice of footie teams). I'm wandering, aren't I?
Anyway, we watched, giggled, then I looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes and it was comprehensively slated. Guess I'm out of step. Or maybe the accents rendered it incomprehensible. And Samuel Jackson has a cute behind. The film ended on it as he walked away starkers and I thought; yes! That's how Buffy should end. Spike becomes human and walks off into the sunrise, naked. Hey, works for me and Spike's obviously allergic to man made fabrics or something, the amount of time he spends shirtless, so it's practically canon...
