We stopped off in, umm, I forget where; somewhere between Flint and Lansing, where we saw a Best Buy from the road, and went DVD shopping and I bought Continuum ::bounces::
I watched it last night and enjoyed it very much.
That really was, as they said in the extras, like all sorts of seasons and episodes they've done before, but in a good way. There was a real excitement to it and less of the bored and boring, continual nodding to themselves which gets so old. They just did it and meant it and it was good.
David watched the first bit with me and neither of us could figure out why they didn't try and exit UP out of the ship.
Daniel! God, they whumped him good, didn't they? Sheesh. I see why after watching the extras; they needed him not on the ice, but even so.
Jack stabbed. Meep. Sam wasn't too overwrought; no more than she would've been.
My slashy heart was happy with the canonical 'I'm the closest thing you have to a best friend' and it hurt to have Jack condemn them, though good to see his son's okay (except why is he? That should've played out the usual way). I guess they didn't want to confuse matters, but it's funny Daniel doesn't once wonder if Sha're is still alive.
Loved the montage, loved the new lives, hated that they split them up like that (what, are they tracking their mail, e-mail, phonecalls? Sheesh), but could sort of see Landry's point about their arrogance (but we know better; all timelines are not created equal).
Qutesh stabbing Ba'al... ow. Cold. Vicious. CB did a great job with the dual role.
Teal'c rocked throughout, as ever. Loved that he got the final word again.
RDA hammed it up a bit in places but was okay when he was being serious. RDA's really... stiffened up in retirement when it comes to acting. Sometimes he makes me wince a bit, but still... it's Jack.
Exciting, nail-biting, loved it.
But I'm TOTALLY lost on how they got back to where they were again. Totally. Is there a version of Cam who died in the past (well, he could still be around up to say 1980) living alone, never able to say anything, like poor Daniel and co back in Ancient Egypt? And he was the real Cam, so who was the one slamming the locker door? That timeline can't have disappeared or he couldn't be in the photo. And Real!Ba'al was shot by Cam so are they safe that he's dead at the end or not?
AAAAAAAH! Too confusing.
But fun.
And I saved this squee til last:
PAUL!!!!!!!!! MAJOR DAVIS!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
