I've seen a few posts from people trimming their f-lists because they can't keep up/fandom drift, both of which are perfectly understandable; so many interesting LJs; so little time.
I try to do that and it never seems to work, so I won't bother even trying to trim mine, but if you're looking to trim and staring hard at my name and dithering as you mutter 'eenie-meenie-miny-mo' under your breath, here's what you're likely to see in my LJ for the foreseeable future, if it helps you make up your mind.
I swear by Richard Burgi's manly chest that I will not be at all upset if you take this LJ off your reading list after reading this. No one who has to do (admittedly trivial) things like eating and sleeping can read every LJ on Live Journal and you have to draw a line.
So what do I have to offer in the way of entertainment?
Non fandom posts.
My life is mundane and mostly happy. My marriage is stable, my kids no more than normally troublesome, my cats healthy. If this changes, I will turn to my f-list for sympathy and hugs, you bet I will. Expect a scattering of posts on My Life, increasing in number when disasters strike (like dishwasher floods). Useful as a way of lulling yourself gently to sleep, I suppose. When the cat bringing in a dragonfly whose head is six inches away from its body and STILL FREAKING MOVING, OMG, is the highlight of the day (I was shaking and making odd squeaky noises for AGES after being a Brave Mommy and dealing with the clean up) well, it speaks for itself.
Birthdays.
Yep. If you're on the birthday list, I wish you a Happy Birthday. I don't know how I got into the habit of doing it for everyone, but I do and it's too late to stop. And I like doing it. Birthdays are fun.
Memes and what kind of ::insert random thing:; I am.
Do not do. Or if I do have a burning urge to find out what gem I am, or whatever, I don't share it with the world. And if I did, I'd cut it.
But mostly, I don't.
Meta-y stuff.
Sometimes I do this. I have one planned right now. Usually, I write them in my head and then can't be bothered to transcribe. Many years on LJ have taught me that meta leads to kerfuffling all too often and I'm wiser than I was. Not much. But a bit.
Icons/Vids
From time to time, yes. God, I wish I had time to vid again, but right now... no. I have a half-started Jim/Blair to Nancy Sinatra's 'Goodtime Girl' that I'd love to get back to.
Drooling over teh pretty.
Lots of drooling. I revel in the shallow end of the pool, where the water is warm (probably from the drool).
Fic.
Oh, you KNOW there's fic here :-)
Mostly slash, sprinkled with spankings, but hey, I do het, gen, and f/f from time to time and the odd G rated fic is not unheard of.
