Despite spending the morning listing to the right with a killer headache (sinuses), I baked not one but two cakes (first one a disaster) and by 2.00 was ready for the party.
All went well until one of the little girls said she felt sick (BEFORE THE CAKE, I HASTEN TO ADD!) and despite all we could do to make her feel better, went home looking not well at all, poor pet. So I became Amber the Orange Fairy.
I had loads of crafts planned: hats to be decorated with foam stickers (they looked awesome) and plain wooden rainbows to be glammed up with markers, glue and sparkly confetti.
We had 36 balloons, six in each of the six colors, and much fun was had with them for a good while.
I also had a craft where you stuck bits of shredded paper on your stripe of the rainbow to get to the fairy gold:

and a pinata (my God, those sweet little girls were VICIOUS attacking it; I was forcibly reminded of Lord of the Flies and quailed slightly.)

The cake turned out nicely:

and Pass the Parcel was a hit, but the most fun was getting to their loot bags by winding up the wool:

All over for another year!
