Going behind the cut.

That last scene broke me. I kind of knew it would be something like that but still...just heartbreaking. Dean's basically so... so decent at heart, for all the sometimes crass surface he shows and all the pragmatism, and to have willingly stepped over the line and become the monster (no matter how unendurable the alternative) is something I really don't see how he could ever forgive himself doing -- even though, really, there's nothing to forgive. He's human. He held on as long as he could (just like Anna) and then he fell (just like Anna).

The rest of the episode... I'm in two minds. It was a lot crammed in there and some of it worked, some of it didn't. Anna as angel; well the name's a giveaway now I look at it. I was unspoiled and I didn't guess until we got the clue about her father. I did find myself murmuring Mary-Sue, but I suppose that isn't fair. Deus ex machina? Heh. Yeah. Maybe.

Jumping around all over the place, but the confrontation in the barn had me on the edge of my seat. Lovely epic showdown. Alastair though... the torture scene was seriosuly gross but overall, he didn't really spook me. He's no Castiel.

The sex. In the car. Oh, show. You're just not that good at sex scenes. They stand out awkwardly. Dean and Anna had so little chemistry that even the three moments that did work for me; Dean's bare back twisting slightly, his bloody knuckles, Anna fitting her fingers to the scar Castiel left, were killed dead by the sheer cheesiness of the hand dragged down through the condensation on the window.

Er, show? You've done that in a lot of shower scenes where someone's dying horribly. I'm just saying.

Bobby is where now? Wtf? Off filming Harper's Island with the old Ruby, I guess...

Nice seeing Pamela again.

And I'm still dealing with those tears sliding down Dean's face.

And the way he chose Sam over an angel he was willing to go back to hell to protect.

ETA: did anyone else wonder if the Grace would turn out to be Dean's amulet?
