Just watched Vegas (on my big TV! Not my computer! Transferred to my new toy!)

Episode thoughts.

The need to turn the sound up and down constantly because the music was so loud was annoying. I'm getting that out of the way now, because it was. That said, the score worked brilliantly and I appreciate that; it was just a pain to keep juggling the sound.

I didn't quite get what was happening. The whole thing was an AU, sure, but how did it affect our guys? The rift meant the message got through to 'our' Wraith and now they know where Earth is? Yes? And they have one episode to deal with that? Heh.

I haven't read any reviews yet so I don't know how this went down with people. I'm torn. If I view it as the penultimate episode of a five year show, I'm tapping my foot and snarling because, hello? Teyla? Ronon? TEAM?

Having said that, I can see them all thinking, hell with it; it's the PE, let's have fun...which is fine and dandy and The Sentinel did it a bit too, with their last 8 episodes when they sort of knew it was all they had...but they kept the main characters and the feel of the show intact and this, well, this wasn't SGA.

If you viewed it as a very short Sci Fi standalone movie, it was pretty cool. Glossy, snazzy, bright, jarring; just like Vegas. As a fan of the other Vegas show that got canceled (ETA Las Vegas, not CSI), it felt quite familiar in the way it was shot. It worked pretty well as a violent shoot 'em up with a tragic ending. I also liked the way I could think the medic John went to save was his boyfriend and God knows he and McKay (and McKay and Zelenka) have chemistry no matter what dimension they're in. John in stubble and a world-weary stare is just too pretty for words.

But it didn't look or feel like SGA and... and there's only one more left.

So I'm torn.

Loved it on one hand -- feel cheated on the other. Like I'm walking out of the restaurant full and it was tasty, sure -- but it wasn't what I'd ordered and they still wanted a tip.
