The discussion about race

kita0610 just posted here to say that when it comes to the current discussion on race, silence on the issue can lead to uncertainty about one's stance.

I haven't said anything about it to date but if it needs saying...

I think that:

There is no need for anyone -- anyone -- to 'fail' in a debate about race if they go into it prepared in all humility to discover that what they thought about themselves might not be true, and, in the light of what they discover, to resolve to consciously make an effort to think before they speak or judge in the future.

And revealing real names is despicable. This is something about which there is no middle ground. It's wrong.

I won't turn comments off but I don't have much more to say than that. This is so huge and hurtful and sad that I'm fumbling for words to deal with it.
