More snow but I'm getting my car back today so I won't have to subject my body to the unaccustomed exercise of, well exercise, but specifically walking up and down to the preschool and pulling Lauren behind me on a sled. OK, it's ten minutes if that and the ache in my shoulders and back could be down to the half an hour of snow shovelling/building snowman in garden too, but even so. Enough is enough. Back to hibernating.
New Angel tomorrow and the break has been so long that I'm almost not excited. Hope that changes...sure it will.
Because someone mentioned they were reading 'Cotillion', I'm now working my way through my Heyer collection for the hundredth time. Heh; when we're introduced to Freddy in that book, we're told that his breeches are 'effulgent'. Yes, of course I smiled!
Odd too: I noticed that Heyer punctuates dialogue differently than I do, well than any of us do. Where we would put a comma before it, she puts a colon.
Lady Carlton looked at her wayward son and said: "Do not marry her, Samuel! I am persuaded she is only interested in the contents of your clinging, effulgent breeches, rather than your vast fortune, invested by your father in Funds before his untimely..."
Is this a usage that's faded out then? Or is it still done?
And speaking of fading and at the risk of sounding like I'm asking for more feedback (which I am of course, as I sprinkle it on my cereal I love it that much), I find it interesting that the spanking fics I wrote with Giles doing the deed got masses of feedback :;smooches you all:: but the one I wrote yesterday for
kindkit, 'Fading the Bruises' when Wes spanks him, got far less ::extra smooches for the people who did try it::. Does it just not appeal as much? Did I squick some of you?
I have to admit when she asked me who I could see spanking him in my interview meme, the immediate answer was 'No one! It's Giles!' but I think it worked pretty well. I can always tell because this fever comes over me and I can see it happening and can't type fast enough. So I'm happy with it, which is what counts and thanks to everyone who read it ::hugs::
