Going behind a cut for episode discussion.
I watched with Mum who confessed that she didn't have a clue what was going on. She hasn't seen many episodes, so that's reasonable, but I, who've seen them all several times, was equally baffled, so I'm tending to think it was badly written. There's a fine line between intriguing and setting up future stuff and being irritatingly muddled and I think they crossed it.
Like raisins in a stodgy pudding we had headslaps (two!), slashiness galore (Gibbs knows that Tony hasn't had sex in for ever; that's...wow. ::blinks::), Abby and Gibbs signing, and I loved Vance's family but we also had that plot which made no sense and Ziva? HE'S NOT INTO YOU THAT WAY. DROP IT. Sheesh. I liked Ziva and you're making me not like her; stop it, show.
Gibbs would kick her/Tony/both of them off the team if they hooked up anyway. And she's got the guy on the phone...
So that plot. Vance's friend was murdered by the boy with the bucket for a very weird reason and boy with bucket was beaten up as punishment. Got it. Got, too, why Vance wanted to investigate.
Still don't get what happened at the start; Tara; she's the sister of the murdered guy? If she's married to a former client she loves, why is she still a prostitute? It's very J D Robb companion of her but maybe not that realistic. All the detached retina stuff...we're meant to think there was an ID swap in there? Ack!
Badly written; the bits that didn't need to be obscure still were. I had enough of loose ends with the Jenny plot (STILL don't know if her father was alive and I guess we never will).
