Making good headway on the book I'm writing over the summer for Torquere. I just hit 41,000 words (started June 5th with 5000 words already written).
I also found out today that a short story, 'Fresh Start' I wrote for the 'Master Me' anthology that Total-e-Bound are bringing out has been accepted, which is great. It's m/f, BDSM-themed and around 18,000 words. Not sure about the release date yet, but I'll keep you posted.
And Whipped Cream Reviews, who gave Truthful Change by Alexa and me 4.5/5 stars have included it in their weekly vote for best book, so fingers crossed. Their review is here and the poll opens on Saturday here.
Truthful Change is selling really well and getting some very nice reviews so that's making me smile. I'm missing having the time to write fic, but hopefully I can take a week off at the end of the summer and indulge myself. I couldn't ever give up writing my own stories, but it feels very different than writing fic somehow. I guess it's the Tom Sawyer and the fence painting syndrome, except original fic doesn't feel like hard work exactly...could be the deadlines add an element of pressure and the need to meet a word target each day. Eh. All I know is that I'm very lucky to get paid for doing something I love.

Book spoilers ahead....
I was so struck by the scene by the pool where A takes his clothes off and swims to clear his head and rest! It was one of those inevitable surprises, you know? Totally unexpected by me, yet totally inevitable and breathtaking when it happened! Really great use of symbolism and pacing; it was such a turning point in the narrative and it worked for me big time.
The sex was also really really hot and punched a bunch of my buttons!!!
The only criticism I had was that there is NO WAY an apartment, even a dump, in Plano Texas would be un-air conditioned! That was the only bit of reality checking I had.
Very poignant and suspenseful and I know I will be rereading. It's really a bargain. Karl in particular I really enjoyed. He really worked for me.
Thank you and thanks to Alexa.

Heh, lucky people in Texas, then! when we first came to Canada we spent 6 weeks in a boarding house waiting for the house purchase to go through. One room, shared kitchen/bath and E was just two years old. No A/C, scorching hot...pure hell. Not that this last week has been bearable even WITH A/C; we've been hitting 40+ though it rained today and brought the temp down 9and the humidity way up :-))
