I thought RB did a good job with the role though the ending puzzled me a little. Even though he was technically innocent, his wife's actions when disclosed would've brought him down so why go out there holding her hand to take the win? One last moment of glory?

yeah, that had me wondering as well. why wasn't she just arrested on the spot? okay, i know there wasn't anyone there with authority to arrest her, but why wasn't there?

but RB was polished and looked gorgeous as ever, so my fannish heart is happy tonight :)

My possibly flawed understanding of the ending was that she couldn't necessarily be arrested? Our heroes had figured out the crime, but the police had yet to come up with a paper trail. So RB's character had a choice between accepting his election/ doing the right thing, but going to jail wasn't (yet) an issue.

It wasn't super clear, tho.

I was so glad that 1) he wasn't guilty, and 2) he hadn't known what was going on! The ending was a little strange, but I think there were all those people cheering downstairs who had worked so hard for so long for this moment, that he didn't want to ruin their night. Also, I think that as long as he accepts the win, if he resigns after, it goes to his Lt. Governor, or whatever Virginia's law is, so the party can keep the seat. He did a great job of reaching for her hand like he was taking hold of something creepy and loathsome—he barely took her fingertips. Even when he was standing with her at the balcony, your last screencap captures his ambiguous feelings. I think the next day he'd have their lawyer talk her into surrendering herself.
