Eleanor is in tears here. Youtube has, without warning, deleted her account for copyright issues, taking with it hundreds of her vids with literally thousands of hits and pages of comments. She's devastated.

Does anyone know if there's a way to recover the data? Does the Wayback Machine work? She doesn't have them all backed up.

God, why do they DO this? They're vids; what harm do they do?

ETA Thanks for all the great suggestions. E has written to YT and we'll await their response.

Gah. Poor baby... She thinks she has most backed up on our computer, but even so...

With the rulings recently in favor of Vids being classed as derivative works, I am very shocked to hear youtube went that far. I will also be quite upset to not be able to watch them now.

I wish I knew how to help, but YT is a mystery to me.

They do seem to be getting pretty draconian on YouTube these days, and as you say, what on earth is the harm of vids? Give Eleanor my sympathies.

Give Eleanor a hug from a fellow fan/geek-girl and tell her not to lose her squee.
This sucks.
Boo to YouTube. Grrr.
