The opener for S8 was okay, though I watched looking to pick fault, which isn't like me. The whole Mallison deal and other aspects of last season really bugged me.
One scene really had me rolling my eyes though. Cutting, though it's not plot related at all.
Yeah, it was the scene set in Canada. I'm not about to storm down and burn the White House (good old Canadian tradition) and I know NCIS has its moments of levity, but that was...it was silly. Not funny, just silly.
It was WRONG.
Look, I live not far from the Canadian border and in September, we don't have snow. They never specified where Tim was, but going from that drug pipeline map, probably Toronto/Quebec area.
No snow. None. I've known a freak blizzard in late October but we can go until December before the first snow.
Do people wear toques? Sometimes, yes, but this early? No.
Mounties? Horses? What the fuck? NO! Why would Tim's car be surrounded by Mounties in full uniform on horses? I've lived here 13 years and been to Ottawa and never SEEN a Mountie.
The producer has said it was just a bit of fun.
What the hell ever. In an episode full of drama and tragedy maybe they felt the need to lighten the atmosphere but they made themselves look like total idiots.
And as someone who's driven in Canada for all those 13 years, people don't follow the speed limit and drive with excessive politeness. Yes, Canadians are polite in general and I love it, but step away from the stereotypes and do three seconds of research, for the love of Tim Hortons.

It was all over the top. And I'd like to thank you as a Canadian ranter for discussing the Toronto end of the border.
This is because Glacier National Park in Montana had snow last week and it's adjacent to the border - sharing the space with Waterton Lakes National Park in southern Alberta. The park goes into winter shutdown mode mid-September because they're likely to get snow.
I don't think Glacier's snow stopped at a line some guy drew on a map ;-)

I don't think I've ever seen a well-known American TV show deal with any scene happening in a foreign country or with foreign characters in a believable and non-offensive way. They always go for silly stereotypes, taking their viewers for ignorant morons, offending people from the country the scene's supposed to be in at the same time, *and* making these think Americans are all idiots, another stereotype which really didn't need to be reinforced. It's a lose-lose situation. So why o why?

This, exactly. And it kinda made McGee look like a moron, which he isn't. What's funny about that?
