LJ is being really slow the last 24 hours. I've checked all the situation sites and it seems to be just me, but I'm having to reload endlessly and keep getting timed-out messages. Excuse any double posts as a result of me stabbing peevishly at mouse buttons.
The new dishwasher arrives today. We finally gave up on the old one after spending a few hours stripping it down and getting rid of as much gunk as we could. It helped for a day or two, then the dried-on sand came back, it stopped draining, and a weird black, oily deposit appeared on the door. We got a really good deal on last year's model at Future Shop (dishwashers have models; who knew?) including free delivery and take away of the old one and a four year warranty. This one has a stainless steel interior and door and nylon coated racks; our current racks have rusted terribly.
Enough babbling about appliances :-)
WG and I finished our novel, due to be handed in at the end of the month and published in February from Loose Id. We're now in editing hell. I volunteered to do the first readthrough while she's away and although I love the book and Cal and Tom, the heroes, it's my least favourite part of writing. There's no flow when you have to keep pausing to put in a comma and such. It is satisfying to spot typos and nuke 'em, though; a writer's version of Space Invaders :-)
We finally came up with a title: Accidentally in Love.
This one's about a good-looking, love them and leave them type, Cal, who rents a room in Tom's house. Tom's not shy exactly, but he's still a virgin, never been kissed, and he views Cal's easygoing ways with suspicion and some disapproval. When he does Cal a favour, Cal decides to make him over and set him up with a date as a thank you and that changes everything....
