We had a remake of the movie. It was called the TV show. It did what it wanted to do and it did it well and we loved it.

I can't speak for this fanbase eagerly awaiting this new movie (which I suspect will never get made) of which they speak, but my fanbase of one, sitting right here does not want ::pets my Buffy and Angel DVDs gently::

i'll admit, i'm intrigued, and willing to see how it plays out. i absolutely adore Joss' repsonse tho :)

All they will have is Buffy and a Watcher. The other characters belong to Joss and the TV series. That's not Buffy. They can call it that, but it isn't the show people loved. They're stealing the cachet of the show (which rocked) to remake the movie (which was average at best) and that's cheating and I really doubt this will fly. The reaction is so anti that they must see they have no audience.
