I was reading (and loving) the links on [personal profile] thefourthvine's post about No Heterosexual Explanation Moments and a Starsky and Hutch vid got linked.

I watched this show when I was about 12 and adored it but the slashiness went right over my head though once I was into slash and fandom I soon discovered it was considered one of the slashiest shows out there.

This vid shows why.

God, they were ALL OVER EACH OTHER and in such a relaxed, easy-going, so what, way. I'm trying to picture those scenes on Hawaii Five-0, say, and we wouldn't get them. We get a lot but by comparison? Drips from a tap compared to Niagara Falls.

That's such a shame.

I always think, "Nah, I can't be remembering S&H right, thinking that they were that much all over each other." Then I see videographic proof.

S&H always read as a little more comedic to me than what they're going with for H50, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a modern show where we'd see that much...muchness.

I'd make an argument that 'gays didn't exist back then' therefore it was okay to have borderline relationships in the media, because the "Moral Guardians" wouldn't see such behavior and come up with 'gay'. Now, that's the default.

(I'd make the argument, but my brain is misfiring hard today.)

That is such a well made vid! I know nothing of Starsky & Hutch, although the comments to thefourthvine's post have tweaked my interest.

I'd forgotten just how much they guys touch and hugged one another. Oh the slashiness was just pouring off the screen.
