We're redecorating our bedroom and playing with one of those sites where you can change the colors. We have a navy ceiling (!) and deep maroon walls and I'm trying not to repaint the ceiling but we might have to since it limits us and there's a bit in the corner we had to repair and it's hellishly difficult to match since it's faded and is a dusty navy.

The room is huge. The ceiling is artex. I kind of dread painting it. It'd need about three coats...

Anyway, take a look...and the duvet will be going so ignore that.

I like either of the lighter, brighter colors with the light ceiling, but this could just be me. Your bed and other furniture is dark and solid, and the lighter ceiling feels so much more open and airy, as do the lighter wall colors.

I love the bed, btw. :-)

IMO, you should go ahead and paint the ceiling white no matter what, because of the repairs. They have some amazing paint products out there now--Kilz, for one, which covers all manner of sins, and paint by Valspar, I think, that covers in one coat what used to need two coats to cover. I like the green with a soft white ceiling, though I'd go in more of a sage-y direction than olive; but it's not my bedroom, eh?

Yeah, that green is kind of AH! GREEN! but something lighter and a little bluer white the white ceiling would look nice.

I love the green and blue combo--I actually got them to paint our office lobby that. But for the bedroom ceiling I'd stick with white. The all-blue looks cozy, but there are times I think it would feel oppressive.

i really like the blue/green combo. and to cover the repairs on the ceiling, you could get as close a match as possible, do a patch coat over the repair and then just one coat over the whole of the ceiling.

but i guess it also depends on what other decorations - paintings, homewares, etc you'll have in the bedroom. when i was choosing the paint for my lounge i used colours that went with the paintings i had even though, for the green, it was just a tiny patch on the edge of the canvas.

My color style is saturation, so I feel your color dilemmas :-) I have painted many a ceiling not!white.

I have been tempted by the dare blue ceilings before - I wanted to paint the constellations on them. In the end, I have 8 foot walls and the super dark up top tends to weigh down a room. Looking at your blue/green combo, I'd be inclined to shift the blue more towards a stone washed denim.

I'd be inclined to go with lighter colours myself, to make the room look bigger - the dark colours make the walls sort of close in. A lighter blue for the walls than the one you show, with a paler blue for the ceiling.

:-) My father was a painter, and I remember his comments on a house he painted, back around 1960. The folk got black ceilings. He said you walked into a room, and you instantly wanted to duck...
