First, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] psubrat; hope it's lots of fun ::hugs::

Second, thanks so much for all the hugs last night after I posted my mini rant; I should have waited and calmed down, and then maybe I wouldn't have posted at all, but I guess that's what LJ is good for; somewhere to vent and feel better afterwards. Just to reiterate; I'm sure the man didn't mean anything bad by it and his warnings were fine, so I'm the only one to blame for getting squicked. Just bugged me.

I was considerably soothed by a phone call at 7.20 from [livejournal.com profile] autobadgirl who is visiting family in my area (she's based in Quebec) and was able to come and visit. Squee!! It couldn't have been better timed; she arrived five minutes after the kids were both tucked up and five minutes before David left to play soccer, so we had a couple of hours to natter away in perfect peace.

It was lovely. It is so nice being with LJ people; utterly relaxing because they Get It. They get LJ, fandom, writing...the whole thing. They don't think you're a freak or a geek or if they do they don't see those as bad things to be. It was a wonderfully entertaining evening and she is so sweet and funny and interesting; I wish you could have stayed longer, but I'm so glad we got to meet ::hugs::

She's going to Writercon (I would love to go, but it's just not going to happen) so she's under orders to say hello from me to everyone and you all hug her from me, because she's lovely.

I am so going to snaffle dozens of you and whisk you off to somewhere for a week of solid chatting one day.A few hours is just not long enough ::grin::

She is writing in the Alias fandom right now; I have to say the brief description she gave of it sounds lots of fun; I've never seen even an episode of it, but I must see if the library has the DVDs, or if it's on Space or something.

She also spared you all; before she rang I was seriously plotting out a slash fic that would have earned me a front row seat in the bus to special hell. Yes, after reading them all for a week and boggling at the blatant, textual slashiness, I wanted to write Jeeves/Wooster slash.

And you know that means I will. Whether I post it is another matter, but I'll probably write it.

And it's wrong. It's so very, very wrong.
