At one point on the Mizzy Lake Trail I wanted to lie down and become mulch (feet hurting, so hot, eleven km is A LONG WAY), but it was the most perfect day and the woods were stunningly beautiful.

Few pix under the cut.

I had to convert kilometres (I nearly said kilograms) to miles to get an idea of the distance - I don't <i<>do metric (I think the units involved are either too big or - mostly - too small; we were taught to use the biggest unit possible to keep the numbers smaller, and in number work decimals were taught to us as make-work after we sat out final primary exams - I still find vulgar fractions much easier to work with). I'd be more than pushed to do nearly 7 miles now, though at one time (in my hillwalking days, forty+ years ago) I thought anything less than 10 was a lazy day, with 18 more of an average and 25 perfectly doable.

So I'll have to be content now with seeing your photos... Very nice, particularly the last one..

I've read a few Bryson books, but I can't remember if I've read that one.

I lost condition in 2002 when I broke my hip; although I got a partial hip replacement, my left leg has never totally recovered. There's a lot of internal scarring.
