David's being making tent-y noises for a while and when we were grocery shopping we spotted some marked WAY down. The big one was $24, the baby one $12.

Wow, things have changed since we camped out when I was a child. Thin bendy poles, built in undersheet, go up in a few minutes..

But within seconds, the floor was covered in bits of grass. Plus ca change...

I have two more children for eleven days. The friends who looked after E and L when we were in the UK for Dad's funeral are in Peru (business trip, spouses invited for free) so their daughters, age 16 and 13 are with us. We've known them all their lives pretty much so it's kind of like having cousins stay and they're here so often I don't even notice them, heh.

Writing is going better now the kids are at school, but things keep happening to disrupt writing time. Must get my head down this week and get cracking.

The new book by Alexa and me, Room at the Top, has been getting some very nice reviews which makes me smile. I know I shouldn't read reviews, good or bad, but I can't help it ::g::

Mm, I can smell roast potatoes cooked with rosemary from the garden. Now I'm hungry.

We went round to [personal profile] autobadgirl's house last night for a barbecue with her and her boyfriend's family. Had a lovely time and some delicious food. David played poker and I chatted with Badgirl and drank beer. It was incredibly warm and cold beer just seemed to hit the spot...

That is an insanely good bargain on tents! (And, yeah, the new bendy-pole tents are awesome. :-)

Those tent prices were really something! Though I'd really want a bigger flysheet. (We always had a closed, extended flysheet back in my hill-walking days.) One of my friends back then got an extended flysheet that didn't have a door, so he asked the girl in the sports shop (we knew her very well) if he could get a door put onto it. She asked him what kind of door, as if there was going to be any option and, straight-faced, he said 'Wooden'. She actually began to write that down, then stopped and said, "But you can't put a wooden door on a tent..."
