The sad came first, so the happy was doubly welcome. Our friends have two dogs, one of whom is elderly, and they decided to adopt another from the shelter so that when he died there'd still be a friend for the other dog. So on Saturday they adopted one and on Sunday we went to meet him; 18 months old, big, lollopy, licky, friendly pup, cross between a collie and a German shepherd. Yesterday he had his rabies shot, suffered a reaction and died on his way from one pet hospital to another, cause as yet unknown.
I'm just devastated; the vet is a personal friend of theirs and us and he's just called me, equally upset. Don't know how E's going to take it :-(
But I was cheered up a little when the post arrived. Late Christmas pressies from Amazon!
'Fighting the Forces', a Buffy book, and the CD 'Pandora's Box' by Jim Steinman's female band of singers of the same name. Glorious played at top volume and as we've got it on album but no way of playing it, I haven't heard it for years...but I'll still be able to sing along I bet; odd how lyrics stick with you. Now I want, inspired by
wesleysgirl producing a brilliant Firefly vid in a day on her first go ::awed boggle:: to do a vid to one of the songs. The fact that I don't know how to and the horrible example of my icon attempts are neither here nor there. Want to vid, too ::pouts:: OK, I really need to be with adults more...
I see I can d/l Windows Movie Maker for free, I've got scads of DVDs; is it possible to shove the DVD in the computer, do something and then cut and paste? Or is it hideously more complex than that? And I don't think we have a DVD burner...just a CD one. I think...we can play DVDs on the computer though.
Finally, tucked away in the mail box, a postcard from England and
flowery_twat! Such a lovely surprise! You're a sweety (heh, you know why that's funny, don't you? ::grin::) and I wish I could have been there too ::hugs:: You're very clever making the photo into a card and I felt homesick just looking at it ::hugs you tightly::
I'm also wondering, after that silly person friended me who doesn't know me from Adam, or Eve, shan't give her the satisfaction of mentioning her name, but 750 friends in a month? Heh, right. Anyway, how many people are reading this that I don't know about? If you've been here for a while and feel inclined, de lurk and wave; I don't bite unless I know you really well ;-)
If you're still too shy/ prefer to snicker at a distance at my utter lack of coherence/a life/maturity then :;hugs:; anyway. I'm just curious that's all.
