I've never really understood the handbag collecting thing. My friend has six Coach bags and I was appreciative of them but stunned by the price. I buy a dark and a light colored one for winter/summer at under $40 and wear them out, toss them, and get another.
But last year I was in Winners and saw a forest-green leather one. Small. Impractical. Adorable. It was by Fossil and it was the softest leather imaginable with a magnetic closure that went 'click' in this quietly purposeful way.
I bought it for my best friend since we were 11's birthday and sent it home with my Mum.
And if I didn't love Alicia like a sister, I'd have kept it.
So today, there I was in Winners and they had another! Don't like the color as much but it still sang out to me across the store so I got it.
It's last year's model I'm thinking, but that kind of thing has never had the slightest significance for me. And at $45, it was a treat but not something I need feel guilty about. So I won't :-)
Eleanor wants the key. She can't have it.
