It might be premature, but I just started reading Elizabeth Peters' Amelia Peabody series (the library has an e-book bundle of the first four) and I'm LOVING them.
They're up to about number 19 so they've been around for ages; anyone else read them? They're mysteries set in Victorian times and Peabody is an independent spinster who inherits a fortune and heads off to see the world. They're just delightful. She reminds me of Sherlock in a way and the love interest is done so well.

I've been wanting to read them, but didn't want to invest money in new books. Tracking down a long series via used stores can be a chore, and then I got more interested in non-fiction and kind of forgot about it. But maybe some day.

I hope you continue to enjoy them though I wonder if you are noticing the problems with the ebook versions that I had. I read all of mine in print and then when some of them showed up on KOBO I bought eversions as well, but some of them are riddled with typos. Hippopotamus Pool was, if I remember right, one of the worst. I keep hoping they will be cleaned up and rereleased, but if you find a problem be prepared to check out the paper versions for your sanity's sake.

The characters do change over time - I'm rather fond of the grown-up version of Amelia and Emerson's son Rameses. Have you met the Master Criminal yet? He hits so many of my narrative kinks it's not funny.

Amelia Peabody is adorable and so is Emerson. That first book set the stage so well. I thought Ramses was annoying at first but he really grew on me. As an adult he is delightful.
As Barbara Merts in RL she is a renowned archaeologist, so she gets all the details right.
I wish you joy in them. She's still writing so we may yet have more of the Emerson family.
